Brit Ltd has announced that it has appointed Christopher Ballantyne to the newly created role of vice president of delegated claims authority.

Ballantyne will report to Mike Barry, Brit’s head of short tail claims. In his new role, he will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight and performance management of Brit’s North American claims service providers. He will also support Brit’s London-based leading claims team.

Ballantyne has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. Prior to taking his new role at Brit, he served as vice president for liability and property claims at Crum & Forster. He’s also held a number of senior claims roles at The Hartford. Before joining the insurance industry, Ballantyne served in the Marine Corps.

“Claims is an increasingly important differentiator for clients and an important strategic focus for Brit,” said Brit CEO Matthew Wilson. “We are committed to ensuring we offer a best-in-class claims service, and Chris’s appointment will help us to deliver this. We want to build long term relationships with our claims service providers, and Chris will be an important part of this for the North American region.”
