An industry veteran who has been in the Lloyd’s market for more than four decades has joined the Lancashire Group and its Lloyd’s arm.

Lancashire has announced that Paul Edwards will join Cathedral Underwriting in September 2016 to lead the underwriting of the North American property catastrophe reinsurance portfolio for Syndicate 2010.

Edwards has over 40 years of experience in the Lloyd’s market, most recently at Syndicate 4444.

“Paul has in depth knowledge of the catastrophe reinsurance markets and many years of practical experience of underwriting throughout all phases of the reinsurance cycle,” said Richard Williams, the active underwriter for Cathedral Syndicates 2010 and 3010.

“Paul’s expertise will further enhance our ability to meet the needs of our clients and the broking community and Cathedral’s long standing reputation for excellence of service,” Williams added.

Edwards’ appointment is among the changes within Cathedral this year. In February, Williams, a long standing member of the senior management team, was appointed as active underwriter and as director of the Lloyd’s managing agency.

Last month, Lancashire announced the appointment of Heather McKinlay as chief financial officer of Cathedral.
