Specialist Lloyd’s insurance group Chaucer has hired veteran underwriter Andy Wells for its newly launched suite of marine professional indemnity products.

Wells, who joins from Travelers Syndicate Management, said he is keyed up to take Chaucer’s professional indemnity product range to the marine market.

“These products will further enhance Chaucer’s leading specialty position in marine, as together we aim to provide clients and brokers with a single destination for their marine requirements,” he said.

Wells is a veteran underwriter with over 26 years of experience in the marine industry.

At Travelers Syndicate Management, Wells underwrote a portfolio of marine ports, professionals and logistics.

He started at Travelers as a senior reinsurance and claims technician, adjusting cross class marine claims and associated marine reinsurance recoveries.

As an assistant underwriter and later as an underwriter, he handled the marine and energy offshore sector and cargo liability for freight forwarding and logistics industry.

“Andy Wells has an excellent reputation as an underwriter,” said Andrew Voke marine practice head at Chaucer.

“Together with our Marine and Casualty Teams, I am sure that he will offer an excellent professional indemnity solution for marine brokers and clients,” Voke added.
