Professional standards and ethics are firmly on the agenda at the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) as it announced its latest appointment.

The CII has unveiled Melissa Collett as its new professional standards director taking responsibility for the body’s legal affairs and risk management. Collett boasts extensive legal and insurance experience having previously served at the Financial Ombudsman Service as a director at Fairer Finance and as a tribunal judge.

“I’m delighted to welcome Melissa to my executive management team at the CII,” commented Sian Fisher, CII CEO. “She brings a wealth of experience and understanding of insurance consumer behaviour and will, no doubt, play an instrumental role in helping us shape our standards in line with this.”

Speaking about her appointment, Collett commented that she was committed to supporting the CII’s strapline that standards, professionalism and trust are at the heart of everything it does.
