Two insurance bosses have raised thousands of pounds for cancer victims and their families in a charity music event that featured UK pop and soul legend Billy Ocean.

Hughes Insurance founder Leslie Hughes and MIS Claims owner Alan Bailie recently organised a charity gala ball for Northern Ireland-based charity Cancer Fund for Children.

Over 300 guests attended the event and were treated to an evening of fine dining and musical entertainment. Ticket sales and a live auction generated £105,000 in funding for services for local families affected by cancer.

“Leslie Hughes and myself are delighted to hand over this donation to Cancer Fund for Children,” Bailie was quoted as saying in a report by the Belfast Telegraph.

Cancer Fund for Children chief executive Gillian Creevy said the generated funds will help the charity serve the 350 local families that it supports every year.

“Leslie and Alan have been longstanding supporters of the charity, and this donation proves their continuing commitment to supporting local families whose lives have been devastated by cancer,” Creevy said.

“They will enable our team of dedicated specialists to help even more families cope with the impact cancer has on their lives,” Creevy added.
