If recent figures are anything to go by, it looks like more insurance workers are needed within Greater London.

The insurance sector posted a 22.2% increase in demand compared to the previous 12 months in the period ending 31 May, according to a report by Staffing Industry Analysts citing data from the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) and Vacancysoft.

The report said information technology experts are the most in-demand professionals within Greater London as they represented 28.4% of all vacancies in the 24-month period to May 2017. The data included jobs announced by 3,145 employers.

Across all industries, vacancy volume in the three months to May 2017 was up 10% compared to the previous three months and by 2.6% versus the same period last year. Seeing the biggest growth in vacancies was the marketing and PR sector, with 5.2% more new jobs than in the previous 12 months.

“Our statistics also show that the greatest growth in demand actually came from medium-sized companies (101-200 ranked), advertising nearly 10% (9.4%) more vacancies during the year,” said APSCo chief executive Ann Swain as quoted by the report.

Last month, research conducted by the European Federation of Financial Intermediaries and Financial Advisers revealed there are more than 282,000 insurance brokers and at least 275,000 insurance agents operating in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, and the UK.
