Global health insurance provider International Medical Group (IMG) has expanded in the UK with the acquisition of rival firm ALC Health.

Based in Indianapolis in the US, IMG serves millions of travellers in over 190 countries with a full line of health insurance products, while ALC Health has clients in more than 140 nations, offering medical insurance plans to individuals, families, companies and groups.

According to IMG President and CEO Todd Hancock, the acquisition will not affect the operations of both companies, saying it will be business as usual for employees, producers and clients.

“ALC Health is a natural expansion fit as IMG continues to grow,” Hancock said. “This acquisition complements our growth strategy, strengthening IMG’s presence across key markets in Europe and Asia.”

Commenting on the acquisition, ALC Health founder and CEO Sarah Jewell said that the two companies share the same “passion, vision and commitment.”

“I’m absolutely delighted that IMG will be taking ALC Health forward over the coming years,” she said.

Philip Wright, managing director of IMG’s European division, believes that ALC Health will help “strengthen IMG’s position as a leader in the industry.”

“Over the years, ALC Health has developed a reputation for excellence. We are excited to welcome Sarah and her team to IMG,” he said.
