Jackson Lee Underwriting is aiming to capitalise on a gap in the market by launching gadget insurance.

The policy will be offered alongside its leisure insurance scheme which includes cycle, caravan, camera and fishing, with Nick Mohan, joint managing director for the company, highlighting that there is a gap in the market with gadgets increasingly excluded from home policies.

“This is one area where brokers are experiencing much customer frustration at not having their gadgets covered as standard,” he said. “Leisure pursuits are ubiquitous with expensive gadgets and so it makes complete sense to be able to offer gadget alongside other specialist leisure policies like caravan and cycle. We expect this latest addition to our Leisure scheme to prove very popular.”

The new option provides cover for up to three gadgets for breakdown, accidental damage and theft. Brokers will also have access to a range of leisure insurance products via the ABEL online portal with additional benefits including public liability and personal accident cover.
