Reality television star Kim Kardashian has dropped her defamation lawsuit against celebrity gossip website MediaTakeOut.com, which accused her of faking a recent robbery incident to defraud insurers.

Sky News reported that Kardashian filed a notice of voluntary dismissal of the suit on October 24, two weeks after the website apologised over the allegations.

Kardashian’s lawyer said the case was withdrawn since the two parties had resolved the issue, according to a BBC report.

Earlier this month, the celebrity was robbed at gunpoint in Paris by at least two men dressed as police officers who stole a box of jewellery worth up to £8 million, Sky News reported.

After Kardashian’s return to the US, MediaTakeOut alleged that she staged the robbery for insurance money.

The lawsuit stated that the gossip website “claimed, without any factual support whatsoever, that Kardashian faked the robbery, lied about the violent assault, and then filed a fraudulent claim with her insurance company to bilk her carrier out of millions of dollars.”

Kardashian filed the court case in New York against the website and its founder, Fred Mwangaguhunga, and sought unspecified damages.
