The London Market Group (LMG) has appointed technology sector veteran Susan Jakobek as the new managing director of Placing Platform Limited (PPL), a priority market initiative that is set to become operational soon.

Jakobek joins PPL from market software provider Adsensa, where she served as chief operating officer responsible for growing the company’s presence across the London market and global insurance industries.

She will be the first managing director of PPL, one of the 15 initiatives that make up the London market Target Operating Model that allows users to place business electronically. The platform would support a flexible negotiation process, facilitate access to the market and offer faster placement for the benefit of the client.

“PPL is a foundation stone for the modernisation agenda, and its commercial objective is compelling,” Jakobek said. “I am very excited to be part of process of helping to strengthen the position of the London Market as the pre-eminent insurance market.”

PPL Board chairman David Ledger said that Jakobek will be joining the company during “an exciting and significant point in the project.”

“We have now got real momentum. We are in the middle of user acceptance testing and are delighted that the feedback has been extremely positive,” Ledger said.

Ledger said the platform will go live shortly with terrorism being the first business to be rolled out.

“Discussions are drawing to a close on the next lines of business to be introduced, and Sue’s role will be vital in delivering the roll-out and building market support,” he said.

Jakobek brings in 30 years of experience in the technology sector, having been able to work with leading companies such as HP, Oracle and AT&T. She has also worked with start-up enterprises focused mainly on the financial services and insurance sectors.

“Her combination of market understanding, technical knowledge and operational expertise will be a tremendous addition to the team,” Ledger said.
