Long-time Lloyd’s underwriter joins Lancashire, Cathedral

The 25-year Lloyd’s market veteran will lead the underwriting of property treaty reinsurance business

The Lancashire Group has appointed a new property treaty reinsurance underwriter for its Lloyd’s arm, Cathedral Underwriting.
 
Lloyd’s veteran Jon Barnes will join Cathedral to lead the underwriting of property treaty reinsurance business for Syndicate 2010.
 
Barnes will also lead the reinsurance structuring and purchasing for Syndicates 2010 and 3010 while assisting with reinsurance coverage for the Lancashire Group.
 
“Jon’s broad market experience and in particular his knowledge of property lines will strengthen our reinsurance offering,” said Richard Williams, the active underwriter for Cathedral Syndicates 2010 and 3010.
 
“Jon will also make an important contribution to the structuring of our Lloyd’s and Group outwards reinsurance programmes,” he added.
 
Barnes has over 25 years of experience in the Lloyd´s market, most recently as deputy active underwriter at Argenta Syndicate 2121, where he has been an underwriter since 1999.
 
Lancashire appointed Barnes following the hiring of Paul Edwards, another Lloyd’s market veteran, as North American property catastrophe reinsurance underwriter.
 
Edwards has over 40 years of experience in the Lloyd’s market, most recently at Canopius Syndicate 4444.
