A key executive at LV= has earned himself a promotion – moving into the role of chief risk officer.

That man is Kieran O’Keeffe, who will take the role effective from April 01, subject to regulatory approval. Reporting to Steve Treloar, the firm’s chief executive of general insurance (GI), O’Keeffe will head up the GI risk and capital functions while also providing risk management oversight across the business.

“I’m very happy to be taking up a role in a new capacity at such an exciting time for our general insurance business, and I am looking forward to working closely with LV= and Allianz UK in the successful delivery of their strategic partnership,” said O’Keeffe.

Though he has been with the company since September 2016, O’Keeffe actually boasts extensive experience elsewhere. He was chief financial officer for general insurance at the Co-Op prior to joining LV=, and from 2010-2013 held a variety of roles at Direct Line Group.

“As an industry, we continue to face uncertain times and it’s essential that we have a strong focus on risk and compliance,” noted Treloar. “Kieran has extensive experience within the general insurance sector and this, combined with his financial and risk expertise, puts him in a very strong position to successfully manage our risk and compliance strategy. I’m confident he’ll do a fantastic job in this new role.”
