Specialist insurer Markel UK has extended the cover on its charities and community group’s product in order to serve more organisations, including those with incomes of up to £1 million.

The improved product currently provides sector-specific insurance for small charities and community groups on modest budgets. It is regarded as one of the few products in the market that caters to specialist risks such as damages arising from abuse.

“We developed the extended wording, based on feedback from our brokers and clients, to make it as quick and easy as possible to obtain tailored cover for smaller charities,” said Wendy Cotton, social welfare technical line manager at Markel UK.

“This will further strengthen our position as a leading provider of specialist insurance solutions to charitable organisations,” she added.

Along with increased income limits, the policy now offers higher sums insured limits for buildings, contents and portable equipment. It can also provide cover for multi-locations with business interruption including revenue, rent receivable and/or additional increased cost of working.

Available on Markel’s e-trading platform, the cover is offered across five sections – liability, management risks, property, fidelity and cyber risks, with the flexibility to purchase in isolation or as a package.
