Trinity Insurance Services, the specialist Armed Forces insurer, has unveiled a bespoke online protection portal for members of the military and their families.

The insurer has partnered with LifeQuote to launch the platform, which provides a panelled aggregation service that allows military personnel to see if they qualify for a range of life and protection policies given their current status in the Armed Forces.

The new online service takes into account whether the military personnel are reservists or regular serving members, what branch of the services they are in, and whether they are under orders to be deployed in the next six months.

Clients will be able to obtain a quote immediately – depending on the online results – and process the application electronically. They can also be supported by Trinity’s specialist protection team that can help them source a product offline.

Explaining the motivation behind the new service, Trinity founder Vic Baker lamented that finding life insurance or other protection for military members was “historically challenging if not impossible.”

“While appreciating the underwriting risks, we wanted to find a way that allowed service personnel to at least establish whether they were insurable and then, if possible, find the relevant product for their needs,” Baker said.

He added that the new platform is a “great example of the harmonisation of online technology and offline service working to provide a solution.”

“Advisers are seeing more opportunities to support some customers in the same way they interact with other online purchases – and it’s certainly an area of growth,” said Neil McCarthy, LifeQuote sales and marketing director.
