Lloyd’s insurer Neon has beefed up its mergers and acquisitions (M&A) insurance unit with the appointment of Vanessa Young as underwriter and solicitor.

The company said Young will play a key role in supporting the expansion of the M&A team, which aims to strengthen its market position amid the growing demand for M&A insurance.

Previously a legal director at Bird & Bird LLP, Young brings extensive local and global M&A experience with significant expertise in the renewable energy sector and advising infrastructure funds, private equity and other institutional investors.

Young’s appointment enables Neon to offer clients specialist M&A insurance solutions in the renewable energy, technology and other strategic trade sectors.

“Vanessa’s hire is yet further evidence that Neon is providing an environment and platform which attracts some of the market’s brightest and best and is an essential part of our growth plans,” said Neon CEO Martin Reith.

“As a former legal director of a leading city law firm, Vanessa’s hire will contribute to the ongoing expansion of the M&A team and demonstrates our commitment to growing the business as we continue to make a significant impact in this sector,” Reith added.

Young will report to Rob Brown, head of M&A liability insurance.
