Specialist insurer Neon has strengthened its Lloyd’s managing agency board with the appointment of Michael Wade as a non-executive director.

Wade is currently a senior advisor to the Cabinet Office, having served as Crown Representative for Insurance at the Cabinet Office between 2013 and 2015.

A 30-year veteran in the specialist insurance market, Wade served on the Council and Committee of Lloyd’s earlier in his career. He was also recently the executive chairman of Besso Insurance Group.

Aside from Wade, Neon has also appointed Simon Hayes as a non-executive director of its Lloyd’s managing agency board.

Having been in the financial services industry for over 20 years, Hayes brings a broad range of commercial, corporate finance and business development experience to his new role. He is currently the chairman of Peel Hunt, which he led as chief executive for 10 years.

Neon CEO Martin Reith said the latest recruits are “great additions” to the board.

“To appoint two individuals of the calibre and market reputation of Michael and Simon is a strong reflection of the journey Neon is on and our long-term strategic ambitions,” he said.

“Michael is a hugely respected figure across the London Market, and rightly so, while Simon has enjoyed great success at one of the UK’s leading independent stockbrokers,” Reith added.
