Pioneer Underwriters has appointed Aaron Sternstein as vice president of allied healthcare.

Prior to joining Pioneer, the Chicago-based underwriting veteran served as a medical underwriting manager at Markel. He started his career at General Star Management Company as a technical assistant in the primary casualty department and also worked at CNA Financial Corporation as a senior underwriting consultant.

“Aaron’s product line experience and proven expertise will enable us to continue delivering technical and innovative underwriting solutions for our clients,” commented Jim Stewart, senior vice president of allied healthcare at Pioneer. “We continue to see significant opportunities in this class and his appointment will further boost the growth and success the team has already delivered.”

Stewart said they have built a well-developed platform and established a leading book of business since launching Pioneer’s allied healthcare division in 2015.

The unit provides allied healthcare facilities with professional liability, general liability, sexual misconduct, employee benefits liability, and hired & non-owned auto, as well as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) violation expense reimbursement and disciplinary proceedings coverage. It is authorised to write business on a non-admitted basis across all US states.
