Lloyd’s underwriting syndicate Probitas 1492 has appointed long-time QBE executive Charles Boorman as the new head of its financial lines team.

In his new role, Boorman will manage a team of senior financial lines underwriters, offering professional indemnity, management liability and cover for financial institutions.

He started his new job on June 20, reporting to Neila Buurman, Probitas 1492’s chief underwriting officer for casualty.

“We are very excited about Charles joining Probitas. With his background and high profile in the insurance industry, he is in the perfect position to lead our experienced senior financial lines team,” Buurman said.

Boorman has 24 years of experience in the London market, including a decade at QBE, where he most recently served as head of financial lines.

At QBE, he also worked as financial institutions portfolio manager, underwriting manager and a senior underwriter.

Before joining QBE, Boorman spent six years at Aon, specialising in commercial D&O and private equity. He also served as associate director of the professional risks division.
