International risk management firm Gallagher Bassett will have a new UK CEO come April 1, the firm announced today.

Simon Pemberton will take the reins as chief executive of the UK business, with current managing director Nick Bonser retiring from the firm after 15 years of service.

Bonser, who said that the business is “poised for a period of rapid growth,” will stay on until June to ensure a smooth transition. He described now as being the right time to retire as the business has a “robust” succession plan in place.

New leader Pemberton has been a “strong leader” within the UK business for a long time, according to the firm.

“He has worked his way up through the ranks in both operational and sales functions, so he has a very strong understanding of all facets of our business,” Jon Winsbury, EVP of Gallagher Bassett International, said.

“Simon has excellent relationships with our clients, teammates and the wider broker and carrier markets and the total confidence of our UK and global leadership.

“He will build on Nick’s successes while developing new pathways for growth and excellence in claims management and customer service. I wish Nick and Simon all the best as they move into their new roles and life stages.”
