Specialist insurance broker Shepherd Compello has appointed Steve Hart as divisional director responsible for delegated authority business.

Hart takes up his new role immediately and will focus on high value homeowners, commercial property and commercial general liability.

“There are huge opportunities for continued growth in the business and I am looking forward to playing my part,” Hart said. “There are many firms who actively seek our niche, independent service, rather than simply accepting a one size fits all offering.”

A highly experienced delegated authority business specialist, Hart has served as both an underwriter and broker across a range of classes. He has underwritten and placed international risks from across the US, Canada and the UK.

Hart’s binding authority underwriting roles have spanned over 20 years at Markel, Omega Underwriting, Ark and, most recently, Chubb Global Markets.

“His energy and delegated authority experience aligns with the existing skills within the firm,” said company CEO John Shepherd.

Hart joins Shepherd Compello as the company tries to grow both the team and the business in its specialist markets including physical damage insurance, motor truck cargo, marine cargo, catastrophe-exposed commercial property and high value homeowner’s insurance.

“We will continue to seek out the best talent in the market to ensure that we drive forward into new markets seizing the opportunities available in new and existing territories,” Shepherd said.
