Savvy brokers are always seeking a competitive advantage – and now one major insurer believes it has a solution that the best can’t say “no” to.

The insurer in question is AXA, which has now launched its eServe web-based portal, designed to help brokers keep on top of customers’ claims on the go and at any time.

“This software allows customers and brokers to view all of their products in one place,” said Alita Ma, customer improvement leader at AXA Insurance UK in an exclusive interview with Insurance Business UK. “We’ve had great feedback from brokers and we believe it offers them a significant advantage.”

So what is eServe all about?

“It’s basically a web-based portal,” commented Ma. “It allows brokers to gain access to key information whenever they need it – whether they’re using a desktop or a smart mobile. They can search and view all claims on their policies with AXA and see all the key information they need such as settlement details and liability decisions at a glance.”

Indeed eServe has been established to give brokers complete control of access to their brokerage while having the chance to get updates on a customer’s claims process in real time. It creates improved efficiency as the idea is that the broker no longer needs to contact the insurer to get claims updates – instead they can access the information they need as and when they want.

Currently, commercial and personal lines brokers are served by the technology – for commercial lines in relation to motor claims, property claims and liability claims; and for personal lines in terms of motor claims and household claims.

Ma also outlines that there are more developments coming – including electronic notifications of new claims and communication functions with the ability to send videos, images and documents. Overall, she believes that whether brokers choose eServe or not, they definitely need to wake up to the ever-growing need for technology in the sector.

“Let’s be honest,” she said, “the insurance industry tends to be quite slow in terms of moving with the times. That’s why products like eServe offer a real competitive advantage.

“Some smaller brokers are set in their ways – and they’re going to face challenges if they don’t offer an online aspect to their business. But if you can be the one who moves with the times that little bit faster, you’ll get ahead.”
