The Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) worker who attacked a woman with a glass inside a London bar earlier this year has been put behind bars.

Lauren Gritz, a 24-year-old personal assistant at JLT, was sentenced to 12 months in prison on November 18 at London Crown Court.

Recorded CCTV footage presented to the court on Friday showed the victim, 23-year old Paige Wooding, accidentally backing into Gritz on May 7.

This provoked Gritz to shove Wooding before grabbing the victim’s drink out of her hand and smashing it into her face.

Wooding suffered a laceration on her forehead, mild swelling and bruising, the Daily Mail reported. She told the court that the incident had given her nightmares and prevented her from socialising.

“It was entirely unprovoked, entirely inappropriate and it could have been much, much worse,” the Daily Mail quoted District Judge Emma Arbuthnot as telling Gritz.

“The glass could have gone in her eye and she could have been blinded,” she added.

Gritz lost her job at JLT after previously pleading guilty to one count of unlawful wounding at an earlier hearing.

In addition to the jail sentence, the court also ordered Gritz to pay £1,500 in compensation.
