Specialist reinsurance broker Capsicum Re has appointed Conrad Williams to be part of its cyber team effective immediately.

Reporting to London property and specialty division partners Ian Newman and Samantha Thompson, Williams joins Capsicum Re fresh from Royal Holloway University of London where he completed a four-year PhD in cyber security. He was one of only 10 students in his peer group to be selected for the programme and has published four peer-reviewed research papers on his specialism, access control.

Prior to Williams’ post-graduate study at Royal Holloway’s Centre for Doctoral Training on Cyber Security, he worked at Acturis Limited as a technical business analyst. The cyber security specialist’s appointment comes as Capsicum Re continues to strengthen its cyber capabilities.

“In such a dynamic environment as cyber, it’s vital that we remain at the forefront of innovation, creating solutions to meet our clients’ growing needs,” commented Newman. “Therefore, I am delighted to welcome a scholar of Conrad’s calibre; he not only brings a vast knowledge of cyber security, but a crucial understanding of the relationship between theoretical, technical, and human factors in this field.”

Newman added: “His skills will undoubtedly complement those of our existing cyber team as we continue to broaden our offering and develop cutting-edge products that address the rapidly changing risks of today.”

The full-service international reinsurance broker, with offices in London and Bermuda, works in partnership with Arthur J. Gallagher as the firm’s reinsurance intermediary.
