Specialist firm CFC Underwriting has launched a new application that promises to respond to cyber incidents within minutes.

The latest app enables policyholders to report a claim with a click of a button and receive specialist immediate support from CFC’s global cyber incident response team.

“We wanted to make it as straightforward as possible for policyholders to access our help,” said Anthony Hess, CFC head of response.

“Using the app, it will take just seconds to notify us that something has gone wrong and less than half an hour for our network of experts to respond.”

Hess warned that the longer it takes a policyholder to notify a claim following a cyber incident, the more damaging the impact can be on the business.

Apart from cyber response services, the new app also provides users with the latest global news on cyber. Users can also configure the app so that insurers and other members of the incident response team are notified at the same time.

The new app runs on iOS, Android and Windows mobile phones. CFC said new functions will be added to the app over the coming months.

According to CFC, the number of cyber claims it managed from 2015 to 2016 increased by 78%, with privacy breaches and financial loss as the main types of attack being claimed for. The company said 90% of its claims by volume were from businesses with less than US$50 million in revenue.
