The Gower Hotel in Wales has turned over a new leaf – new owners, new staff, new restaurant. It was a totally different story back in January when the hotel’s closure was revealed, and couples without wedding insurance found themselves at a loss.

According to the BBC, the hotel closed on New Year’s Eve and had bookings for 32 events – 28 of them weddings – up until September 2018. “Couples are advised to contact their insurance provider or bank if payments were made on credit card,” read a statement issued then by the hotel, previously owned by So To Bed Hotels Ltd.

“It is with immense sadness and regret that due to deteriorating health the decision has been made to cease trading The Gower Hotel immediately,” it said. “As a direct result of these current circumstances, it has been necessary to place the hotel into voluntary liquidation to bring the business to a close in the shortest possible time frame.”

At the time, the hotel’s events manager was asked to liaise with the affected couples and local venues to arrange relocations.

Now WalesOnline reports that the Bishopston hotel has reopened under the ownership of Marlin Hospitality, with already nine weddings booked for the next couple of years. A soft launch took place last July, and an official opening celebration is tentatively set for 2018.
