Yachtpod Risk Partners has launched as an underwriting cell on the MGA formation platform of Castel Underwriting Agencies Limited.
 
The firm specialises in providing a “one-stop” shop for superyacht owners, captains, and managers on specialist coverages including hull and machinery, increased value, war, medical expenses, mortgages interest and loss of charter hire risks, through an exclusive panel of trusted brokers.
 
Several Lloyd’s syndicates and London insurance companies will provide the underwriting cell’s capacity.

“Castel recognises the potential that exists within this market to deliver profitable growth through providing experienced underwriting and claims handling, and a fast and efficient service,” said Iain Cotton, partner at Yachtpod.
 
Cotton leads the Yachtpod team along with Vladimir Mirosevic-Sorgo. Both are former directors of Lead Yacht Underwriters Limited, a subsidiary of MS Amlin.
 
“The Yachtpod team has an unrivalled reputation and proven track record,” said Castel CEO Mark Birrell.
 
Cotton has over 30 years of experience in marine business classes, with senior class underwriting and broking positions in the Lloyd’s and London markets. Mirosevic-Sorgo also boasts more than three decades of insurance experience, the majority of which has been spent broking and underwriting superyacht and marine hull business.
