Walsh Duffield Cos. Inc. has acquired Barry York Inc., marking its second acquisition in the Rochester region.

The move follows the June 2014 consolidation of Stuart G. Smith Agency into Walsh Duffield’s Walsh Quinn Agency LLC unit. The Buffalo agency plans to expand further in Rochester and Upstate New York.

In business since 1860, Walsh Duffield offers group benefits, personal, and commercial insurance.
The Barry York team will continue to operate under the leadership of President Barry York with the name Barry York Agency. The Pittsford-based insurance firm is staffed by six people.

York founded Barry York Inc. in 2000 by acquiring and consolidating several other firms such as Pitcher-Matthews-Consler-York, W.D. Hewes Agency, LePage & Associates, and Kircher-Brindisi Agency.

“Walsh Duffield is a first-class agency with an outstanding management team,” York mentioned in a statement. He added that by joining Walsh Duffield, his team will be capable of providing new services as well as a wider range of coverage options.
