Everest Re Group has appointed Mike Harnett as vice-president, deputy chief underwriting officer for its North American insurance business.

Harnett joins Everest after a 13-year career with Chubb, where he was most recently the senior vice-president of corporate underwriting.

In his new role with Everest Insurance North America, Harnett will “help drive all aspects of underwriting excellence, including the development of policies and procedures, underwriting strategy, product development and governance,” a release said.

“The addition of a seasoned veteran like Mike Harnett furthers our mission of building a world class, diversified specialty underwriting organization,” commented Everest Insurance North America chief underwriting officer Mike Mulray. “Mike [Harnett] brings to our team over 30 years of underwriting discipline and expertise that will help propel our continued pursuit of market leading profitable growth.”
