A Pennsylvania insurance agent is looking at felony charges after he allegedly scammed or stole from three different clients.
Timothy Hewitt has been charged with insurance fraud, forgery, theft and unlicensed broker/agent activity by the Northern Pennsylvania Insurance Fraud Task Force.

Hewitt allegedly cheated or stole from Diaz Forest Products, Diaz Stone and Pallet and Diaz Manufacturing, according to the Scranton Times-Tribune. Authorities said that Hewitt allowed a workers’ compensation policy for Diaz Forest Products to lapse, but continues to bill the business for the premium. He also allowed four Diaz Manufacturing policies to lapse despite receiving the full annual premium from the company.

In addition, Hewitt allegedly overbilled Diaz Stone and Pallet $129,650 for four policies in 2016-2017 and attempted to overbill the company $61,390 for four policies in 2017-2018. According to the Times-Tribune, one of those policies had lapsed and wasn’t even in effect when Hewitt sent the bill.

Authorities also accused Hewitt of a range of other offenses, including creating insurance cards for uninsured vehicles and issuing certificates of insurance for policies that weren’t in effect.

Hewitt has denied any wrongdoing, according to the Times-Tribune.
