Powers Insurance and sister company Valley Insurance Agency Alliance (VIAA) have relocated their headquarters from Clayton, Mo., to St. Louis.

Powers and VIAA had been located in Clayton since 1991. The companies’ new St. Louis headquarters occupies the second and third floors of a 17,000-square-foot building they have developed and own, according to a news release. The first floor is occupied by the Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis. The project cost about $3 million.

“The project is one way our family can contribute to the entire region and the historic Hi Pointe/DeMun neighborhood,” said Powers CEO Pierce Powers Jr. “We razed a building that had been vacant for over 13 years, replaced it with a meaningful edifice, and, in concert with the Scholarship Foundation, have brought over 30 employees to the city.”

Powers Insurance is one of the region’s largest family-owned and operated independent insurance agencies. VIAA, founded in 2006, generates more than $165 million in written premium.
