Ryan Specialty Group (RSG) has unveiled its first Latin America-focused managing general underwriter, and, with it, has appointed a commercial insurance executive to lead the unit.
Pascal Alvarez was brought in to serve as president and CEO of managing general underwriter Capital Bay Underwriting. As head of Capital Bay Underwriting, Alvarez is responsible for “all aspects of the business growing initially in Latin America and the Caribbean, focusing on D&O, professional indemnity and crime,” a release said.

“Pascal is a proven leader with keen senior executive leadership skills and a strong underwriting record. We’re excited to have Pascal join our family,” commented RSG founder, chairman, and CEO Patrick G. Ryan. “With his many years of experience in the financial lines arena, including financial institutions, we are confident in Pascal deepening our expansion into Latin America and the Caribbean.”
On top of hiring Alvarez, RSG has also named David Gonzalez as chief underwriting officer for Capital Bay Underwriting.
