Surplus lines wholesale broker tKg has announced a new vice president and broker to serve in the company’s Eastern property and casualty division.

Mark Walker, an experienced executive with more than two decades of experience, will join the company to help drive expansion and cultivate stronger ties in the southeast. He has a specific focus on casualty and transportation coverage.

Prior to joining tKg, Walker served with Peachtree Special Risk Brokers as executive vice president where he spearheaded initiatives to propel growth as the company established a presence in Charlotte.

“We’re excited to have Mark as part of our team,” James Keating, tKg chief executive said in a statement. “We believe his immense experience and extensive relationships in the industry will be of great value to our organization, as well as the agents and brokers we serve.”

Meanwhile, consulting firm EY said in a market insight report that the year will have its share of challenges for property and casualty insurers.

“For US P&C insurers, 2017 will bring new strategic challenges to an industry in flux,” it said. “Technological and regulatory shifts are changing customer expectations and market dynamics in the personal property and auto insurance space, and creating demand for new products and services, such as cyber risk insurance.

“The investment required to drive future innovation is competing with the need to find efficiencies and comply with growing regulations. Against this backdrop, the fiscal realities of compressed margins and declining investment revenues in the sector are making investment choices increasingly difficult.”
