PSA Group, the maker of Peugeot cars, is planning to conquer the American market again, this time with a ride sharing and peer to peer car rental service that it will offer with French insurer MAIF.

The service will be offered in partnership with TravelCar, another French company that provides P2P ride sharing at airports and train stations in Europe, which raised almost $16 million in capital from the car maker and the insurer.

TravelCar’s model works by trading parking spaces with car rental services for commuters at transport terminals. It also acts as a broker for reserved parking slots.

Trade publication Automotive News said that the company, which started in 2012, has 200 agencies across 10 European locales managing 300,000 users.

The North American service will be first offered in San Francisco and Los Angeles airports, the report added.

The firm’s business model provides rental services at 50% lower than many existing rates.

“We announced our progressive entry to North America by launching mobility services with our partners,” Gregoire Olivier, PSA’s head of mobility services, was quoted as saying in the report. “With TravelCar today, we are writing the beginning of this new step overseas.”
