As had been suggested, the Blue Cross-Blue Shield insurer has named Gail K Boudreaux as its CEO starting from November 20. Swedish will move into an executive chairman role until May and then will take on a senior advisor position for a couple of years.

In a statement released today, the insurer did not supply any reason as to why Swedish is moving on – he had held the position at the insurer for more than four years.

Boudreaux, meanwhile, was the former insurance CEO at UnitedHealth Group and it has been suggested that her appointment will be welcomed by analysts.
