AXIS Capital Holdings has announced two new appointments in the US programs, property and casualty team of its AXIS Insurance unit. Tim McGee has been advanced to the newly created role of senior vice president and US programs underwriting officer. The company has also hired Franklin Maccotan as vice president of US programs. Both McGee and Maccotan will report to John Tatum, AXIS Insurance’s executive vice president and head of US programs.

“During his seven years at AXIS, Tim has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and has led a number of our key initiatives for our US programs business,” Tatum said. “His combined management experience, underwriting expertise and product knowledge will help AXIS further develop more advanced offerings for our clients as our team continues to grow.”

Maccotan brings more than 20 years of industry experience to his role. Prior to taking the position at AXIS, he led the home-office underwriting team at Berkley North Pacific. He’s also held roles at CNA, including as an assistant vice president for its manufacturing segment’s western zone.

“In hiring Franklin, we are bringing onboard a proven talent within the property and casualty space, who has extensive knowledge of the complex risks associated with these programs,” Tatum said. “Franklin’s track record of success and broad range of experience will further strengthen our team as we continue to expand.”
