Brit has announced the creation of its cyber and technology team under its Brit Global Specialty USA (BGSU) unit, which will be headed by new senior vice president Michael Carr.

According to a company statement, the US cyber team will “complement and enhance” the firm’s offerings, which are currently based out of London, by providing local service expertise to meet the increasing demand for cyber and technology products, especially in the small and medium enterprise sector.

“As we continue to take advantage of the agility of our US underwriting platform, cyber and technology was a logical next step for…growth,” Matthew Wilson, Brit group chief executive, said in the statement.

Meanwhile, Carr is expected to provide able leadership to the US team with his three decades long experience in the industry, most recently as technology practice leader for the Argo Group. He has also spent the last 14 years of his career in cyber and technology underwriting.

“Michael’s appointment enhances our existing footprint in the broader US casualty market and provides Brit with the expertise to underwrite business locally…” added Nick Davies, Brit Global Specialty Americas.
