AXA Financial Indonesia has shown its appreciation for its female insurance agents and employees in time for Kartini Day.

Kartini Day was celebrated on April 21, and it is Indonesia’s holiday remembering prominent national heroine Raden Adjeng Kartini, who pioneered education and rights for women in the country.

The insurer touted the higher participation of women employees in insurance, as well as the higher demand for insurance by women as signs of growth potential for the sector.

“The #SheForShield report made by AXA Group along with Accenture and IFC shows that Indonesia is one of the 10 most important emerging markets in the world with potential premiums that increase 10 to 16 folds in 2030 from US$9 billion to US$14 billion,” said Nina Ong, director of AXA Financial Indonesia.

AXA Financial Indonesia has launched the Great Woman program that recruits and trains female agents, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to raise public awareness of the importance of insurance and managing future risks.

According to Ong, AXA currently has 7,500 female insurance agents across the country. She also added that 150 female agents have received the AXA Financial Indonesia Award this year. Women make up more than half (55.6%) of the recipients of the company’s highest annual award for its personnel.

The company said that it will continue to recruit, develop, and empower women agents and marketers, as well as promote innovation in meeting the needs of its female clients, so that the company can better serve the community.
