State Street Corporation has appointed Kamal Jandu as head of insurance services for Asia-Pacific, a newly created role.

Jandu is responsible for defining and executing State Street’s regional insurance services strategy, helping maintain and grow the insurance services business, and coordinating across business units to deliver an integrated client experience.

Based in Hong Kong, he reports to Boston-based Ivan Matviak, global head of insurance solutions, and Ian Martin, head of global services and global exchange for Asia-Pacific.

“The slowdown of economic growth and the aging population in Asia-Pacific are intensifying the challenges insurance companies face in the region,” said Matviak. “Improving returns to meet long-term liabilities is one of their key priorities. With deep experience and knowledge in the insurance sector, Kamal will partner with our clients to help them upgrade their data infrastructure so they can identify and drive efficiencies, enhance their investment capabilities and better manage their risk.”

With 30 years of experience in the global financial institutions sector, Jandu joined State Street from Citibank, where he was senior client manager for the insurance sector, managing the top regional client relationships for the securities services business.
