Claire Combes (pictured), an Airmic member for two decades who has been part of the board since 2016, will take over the risk body’s chairmanship from Tracey Skinner come September.

“I’d like to thank Tracey for leading Airmic through what has been a volatile and difficult period for all organisations,” said Combes, who currently chairs the association’s risk management steering group while also sitting on the audit committee.

“I am passionate about Airmic and the value that we bring to our members and partners.”

The incoming chair is a qualified chartered accountant whose credentials include time spent in risk management, internal audit, health and safety, treasury, and insurance management roles across various industries. Combes serves as risk and assurance director at easyJet at present.

“As the risk management profession continues to increase in relevance, Airmic is positioned to support all risk or insurance managers; increasing their technical skills and personal development,” she added.

“Airmic’s community of members is compassionate and highly engaged, driving thought leadership and best practice. I’m delighted to be able to lead Airmic on the next phase of our journey.”

Looking forward to working with the new chair is Airmic chief executive Julia Graham, who took on the top post in April.

Graham noted: “Supported by Tracey Skinner as immediate past chairman, Tim Graham as first deputy chairman, and Fiona Davidge as second deputy chairman, we have a marvellous and talented executive to help us navigate what remain some still quite ‘choppy’ times ahead.”

Meanwhile recently appointed board member Glenn Ellis will be leading the ESG (environmental, social, and governance) project group at Airmic in his added capacity as the risk body’s first-ever ESG ambassador.
