Ironshore names MD for Australia and New Zealand
Ironshore International has named William Lewis as managing director of Ironshore Australia Pty Limited (IAPL). He will be based in Ironshore’s O’Connell Street offices in Sydney.

Lewis, a private equity lawyer, is a specialist in private equity transactions, tax structuring and insurance, advising private equity firms in London, Australia and New Zealand. Prior to the appointment, Lewis was head of mergers and acquisitions, Ironshore Asia Pacific, responsible for overseeing M&A business lines throughout the region, including Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo. He reports to Hui Yun Boo, managing director, Ironshore Asia Pacific.

Lewis joined Ironshore in 2012 as a mergers and acquisitions manager in Sydney and was promoted to head the specialty business lines unit in 2016. His professional career also involved lead advisory positions with Weil Gotshal and Manges, Allen & Overy, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Ironshore Australia, established in 2011, underwrites a comprehensive suite of specialty corporate and commercial coverages across all business lines throughout the region. Ironshore Asia Pacific offices are also located in Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and China.

Ironshore was bought by Liberty Mutual late last year in a $3 billion deal with Chinese insurer Fosun. It uses the broker channel for specialty property and casualty insurance coverages for varying risks located throughout the world. Select specialty coverages are underwritten at Lloyd’s through Ironshore’s Pembroke Syndicate 4000. The Ironshore group of companies is rated A (Excellent) by A.M Best.
