About NRMA Insurance
NRMA, formerly known as National Roads and Motorists’ Association, is a Sydney-based mutual company that provides roadside assistance, driver and road-user advocacy, motoring advice, car servicing, international driving permits, and other motorist services in NSW and the Australian Capital Territory.

The firm offered mutual insurance until 2000 when the business was demutualised and spun out as NRMA Insurance, which is now a part of Insurance Australia Group (IAG), the largest general insurer in Australia and New Zealand.

NRMA Insurance provides car, home, travel, business, motorcycle, boat, and caravan insurance in NSW, Queensland, ACT, Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory, and security services in NSW, QLD, and ACT.

NRMA and NRMA Insurance are independent companies with an agreement to use the same brand and name. NRMA remains a mutual firm owned by its members, while IAG, NRMA Insurance’s parent company, is a listed company owned by its shareholders. The insurance giant has several operating subsidiaries using the NRMA brand, including NRMA Insurance Limited.
