    To most Australians, those selling Life Insurance and Income Protection products are salesman. They do not consider them to be Advisers. Many people equated this with the fact that Financial Planners receive commissions rather than collect a fee, or that they did no have qualifications. Well they moved to Professional fees and to Professional qualifications but it has not made any difference in how many in the public perceive them. This is a concern because General Insurance Brokers are often perceived the same way.
    Basically, the public will use advisers if they are seen as advisers and not pushy salesman trying to cajole them into buying a product. The difference being, they have already done their research and made up their mind to buy the product when they buy on-line. How did they get this advice in the first place and why did they not end up buying from a Financial Planner? Is it because they do not want to pay extra in Professional fees?
