The Anglican Church has made the astonishing accusation that the royal commission into child sex abuse should be focusing on the actions of the insurers for inhibiting the Church from “acting as it would wish".

How about they not abuse in the first place! Then no problem...

So , Insurers leave it to Insured's to settle Liability matters ? Interesting thought process and one all Insurers will most likley have some comments around.

Astonishing to say the least! Those comments are disgusting and defy belief. Clearly the Church are only concerned with covering things up quietly, not with justice and law.

So the church officials are complaining because the insurers will not quietly settle with victims.

I can't believe they are saying this. Of course church officials do not ever want to land in court and have to sit on that witness stand and dare to tell the truth.
They just might land themselves in jail.

How to disengage from your broker/insurer lesson 1.0.1

Having been involved in the mediation and /or settlement of sexual abuse claims during my time with an Insurer, who specialised in this type of cover, I find the comments made to be completely at odds with what actually occurred and I suspect still occurs. We need to be careful an isolated incident of improper process isn't taken by "the Church" to be a way to deflect it's own level of responsibility and accountability.
