The 2012-13 Victorian budget shows a 10% drop in expected contributions from the insurance industry, while the abolishment of the Fire Services Levy edges closer.

So why then did the Victorian Government just increase FSL rates last week? Cash grab in the last year? 95% in country Victoria is a joke.

Demutualise the MFB & CFA zoning and make one uniform % FSL charge across the board. At least for the short term until all this wind about abolishing it actually happens in my lifetime. They will probably end up collecting more doing this anyway and maybe even win a few more country seats along the way!!

I agree with Glenn's comments - The rise in FSL for Country Victorians is absurd - With manufacturing hurting this 10% increase in hidden tax is really putting the pressure on - About time we move to a more modern Fire Levy System - WA did it years ago, why is Victoria so behind the ball!
