Insurer Suncorp’s commercial insurance CEO has outlined the challenges for brokers in 2013, including embracing technology and handling commercial insurance becoming commoditised.

I never cease to be amazed at the egotistical attitude of some Insurers. They have problems of widespread dislike by consumers and disgaceful claims service, yet continue to instruct Brokers how they should conduct their business.

Technology works best when parties collaborate. This does not happen much in our industry - we will often hear about things the day they are to be released.

The Insurer who takes the time to understand the need of the broker will be the winner.

Most important thing is to listen to your customer. But, doesn't everyone already know that...

Anthony Day doesn't care about brokers which shows in Vero's market share...he's been talking about technology for a decade, but it's all been talk talk talk, cut more frontline staff, employ more more more middle manager EMs...less action...the focus seem to be about moving up that boring insurance corporate ladder.
