Financial-services veteran joins Suncorp board

Ian Hammond, a financial-services veteran with 35 years of experience as chartered accountant and former audit partner with PwC, has joined the board of Suncorp Group as non-executive director.

“Ian has outstanding business acumen and brings considerable capability across financial services that strengthens the expertise of the current board,” said Christine McLoughlin, Suncorp board chair. “His perspectives will also support Suncorp’s focus on ensuring continuous improvement in delivering customer outcomes and aligning them to community expectations.”

Hammond is currently a non-executive director of Perpetual and Venues NSW and has non-executive-director experience in financial-services acting. He is also a policy council member of The Banking and Finance Oath.

Hammond also previously served as board member of International and the Australian Accounting Standards Boards (IASB and AASB) and independent chairman of the audit committee for the Anglican Church of Australia.
