Gallagher Bassett (GB) has permanently appointed Scott Newland as general manager based in Brisbane for government and long tail claims.

Newland has served the GM role in an acting capacity for the past six months, leading the government and long tail claims function across many of GB’s key clients, including icare, Comcover, and Lloyd’s.

Newland has more than a decade of insurance industry experience, having held a number of leadership roles for Marsh and Insurance Australia Group (IAG) across a variety of functions and locations, prior to joining GB.

“We’re delighted for Scott to continue working in the capacity of general manager for government and long tail claims at Gallagher Bassett,” said John McNamara, CEO Gallagher Bassett Australia. “He has shown a track record for delivering brilliant outcomes in leadership, operations and executing key strategic projects.”
