QBE Insurance has announced financial support measures for Australian private-use motor insurance customers.

To ease the financial pressure on household budgets brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, QBE is offering comprehensive car insurance customers a one-off benefit in the form of a $50 gift card, alongside a $25 gift card for motorcycle, caravan and other private motor insurance customers.

“We know that for many of our customers, the health and economic crisis unleashed by COVID-19 is placing huge pressure on their household budgets. This one-off benefit will be a welcome boost to Aussie families at this difficult time,” QBE Australia Pacific CEO, Vivek Bhatia, said.

According to Bhatia, the financial support benefit represents about 25% of the average private-use motor insurance policy from April to June and is a response to fewer vehicles being on the road with fewer insurance claims due to the pandemic.

Likewise, QBE Group CEO, Pat Regan, says the COVID-19 benefit was the latest in a suite of measures being introduced internationally to support their customers and communities during this challenging time.

“At times like these, it is vital that business steps up to assist. While the path through this pandemic remains uncertain, we will continue to be there to support our customers and their communities, true to our purpose to give people the confidence to achieve their ambitions,” Regan said.

It comes after QBE announced earlier this month a suite of measures to support SME customers in Australia impacted by COVID-19, including deferring premium payments, continuing full insurance cover for vacant business premises and paying suppliers faster.
