In its second year, InsureTech Connect more than doubled in size, from 1,500 in 2016 to 3,800 in 2017.
The two days included panels, breakout sessions, keynotes, news and demos from over 200 leaders in the insurtech space. With more than 3,800 attendees from more than 45 countries, the conference set the stage for breaking news from seventeen companies, including: Denim, Sure, Accenture, Captricity, CoverHound, Duck Creek Technologies, Embroker, Flock, GWG Holdings, MassMutual, Pie Insurance, Qover, Roost®, Snapsheet, KeyBank, TrustedChoice.com, Vlocity, and Western Provident Association Group.
Investor interest in technology-first insurance startups appeared to be higher than ever. InsureTech Connect attendees included investors from over 200 firms, including over 21 CVC firms, such as a16z, Polar Capital, White Mountains, MassMutual Ventures, General Atlantic, Transamerica Ventures, American Family Ventures and others. The consensus was clear: insurtech is primed for massive growth, and investors want a piece of it. There was also great interest from startups and incumbents to partner on predictive analytics platforms, commercial and cyber products, smart home and IoT devices, blockchain technology innovations and more.
In light of the tragedy that took place in Las Vegas on the Sunday leading up to the conference, InsureTech Connect started a GoFundMe campaign with an initial donation of $10,000 to support the victims and their families.
Additionally, InsureTech Connect partnered with Valen, offering a $15,000 donation to the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF), a nonprofit organization that unites the insurance industry in their overarching goal of helping communities and enriching lives.
