RVezy.com, an RV rental marketplace, has announced a full insurance offering for its users in Canada.

The marketplace, which launched in 2016, connects RV owners with vacationers who are interested in renting the campers. RVezy later collaborated with Aon Insurance to create the first peer-to-peer RV rental insurance policy. Aon got Intact Insurance to write the commercial fleet product, based on the latter’s existing Uber product. In 2017, RVezy initially provided insurance to RVs registered in Ontario, Alberta and Quebec.

RVezy’s improved policy now provides coverage to trailers registered anywhere in Canada. The policy also promises full replacement value of the RV in the event of a claim.

“I learned from some of the experiences that I had renting my own RV privately and knew that trust and insurance was such a big concern,” said RVezy co-founder Michael McNaught. “There was a gap in the marketplace with no insurance products available to privately rent your RV without an expensive commercial policy.”

“This is truly a remarkable moment in the RV sharing economy and took years of work to complete,” McNaught added. “It is really exciting to share the opportunity with other RV owners across the country, enabling them to make some additional income off an often idle asset.”
